The Illinois Movers' and Warehousemen's Association team of lobbyists are busy in Springfield monitoring legislation and meeting with lawmakers.
Late last week, legislation was introduced that would abolish the Illinois Commerce Commission's police force and move enforcement to the Illinois Sate Police. HB 3575 is sponsored by Representative Rita Mayfield (D-Waukegan).
In addition to abolishing the IL Commerce Commission Police, the bill would also do away with the Secretary of State Police and the Department of Natural Resources Police. While we have not yet identified who is initiating the legislation, IMAWA can confirm that the bill is not an initiative of the Illinois State Police. More details to come.
